Retrieval is being billed as a cinematic horror action-adventure game that follows Hana Loshe, the commander of a research team some 18 billion miles away from Earth, who uncovers the horrors living just beneath the surface. Don't expect this one to launch anytime soon, but it's been announced for PS5.
Despite sharing similar names and sci-fi settings, we imagine this will, in terms of gameplay, be universes different from Returnal and perhaps closer to something like Fort Solis. This is speculation, really, as virtually zero information on the game is available. Developed by 333Studio, Retrieval seems to be the small team's first project, and we'll just have to wait and see how this one develops.
What do you think of this tease of Retrieval, does the prospect of a cinematic horror game appeal? Let us know what you think and when we might see this title release in the comments section below.
Khayl Adam is the second best video game journalist Australia has ever produced, and his ambitions of world domination have (thus far) been curbed by the twin siren songs of strategy games and CRPGs. He has always felt an affinity for the noble dachshund, the best kind of dog.
The recent batch of sci-fi games really are starting to look the same.
There's a lot of space horror recently which I have always been fond of, signalis being my personal favourite of the recent releases.
If this is in engine I'm impressed, hope it turns out.
