Starfield’s full global launch is still a few days away, but the highly anticipated sci-fi RPG became available in early access to owners of its Premium and Constellation Editions. And upon its early access release, the game seems to have got off to a flying start.
As per third party Steam tracking site SteamDB, on the day of its release, Starfield hit a peak concurrent user count of 234,502 players on Steam. The game is, of course, also available on Xbox and available via Game Pass, so its player base will presumably split across platforms, which means it’s certainly got off to an impressive start.
It hasn’t currently managed to exceed the peak concurrent user counts of Bethesda Game Studios’ last two single player RPGs in Fallout 4 (472,962 players) and Skyrim (287,411 players), though with its full release still yet to come, one would assume the numbers will continue to grow in the days ahead.
In our review of Starfield, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “As unfathomably vast and boundless as the subject matter it covers, Starfield raises the bar for its genre and for the medium as a whole in countless ways – much like the best of its Bethesda-developed forebears did in their time.” Read the full review through here.
