Having been released relatively recently, it will be a long time before Fallout 4 will be considered for a remaster or remake, leaving it to modders to bring the game's visuals to modern standards.
A new video shared this week by Digital Dreams shows how the latest numbered entry in the series by Bethesda would look with ray tracing thanks to the Complete Ray Tracing shader preset by Nice Guy, a screen space ray tracing shader that lets users add global illumination with effects like Diffuse Illumination and Specular Reflection, ambient occlusion and glossy reflections to any game. Improving the game's visuals in the 8K video below are also over 300 other mods.
While Fallout 4 is unlikely to get proper ray tracing support anytime soon, the game is still going to get some visual enhancements on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S with the next-gen update. Announced back in October 22, the update was confirmed by Bethesda to have been delayed to 2024 last month, although a more precise release window wasn't confirmed. It will add performance and quality modes, bug fixes, and some additional Creation Club content.
Fallout 4 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One worldwide. You can learn more about the game on its official website.
