Dune: Awakening's First Player Test Took Place This Month, With the Next Planned For 'Early Next Year'
mmorpg.comPlayers eager to see if they can survive the harsh landscape of Arrakis in Dune: Awakening might not have long to wait, as Funcom has revealed it's gearing up for a test in «early next year.» In fact, a test has already concluded in early December with a small number of players checking out the upcoming survival MMO.
In a post on the official Discord, Funcom announced that the team has «made significant progress» on Dune Awakening, and is ready to kick off its closed beta testing phase, which the team started prepping for even last month.
In the Discord post, though, it seems the first test has already concluded, as the Dune developer stated that a «limited number of players» were able to go hands-on with the survival MMO at the start of December. In the post, community developer Kamil «Dopamine» Wojtas announced that the Funcom team kept the test «small on purpose,» with the testers providing some «constructive feedback.»
«The first playtest took place in early December with a very limited number of players descending on Arrakis to survive deadly hazards on the most dangerous planet in the universe. We kept it small on purpose and are incredibly grateful to everyone who showed interest by signing up and to those who were selected, played the game, and gave us their constructive feedback.»
It seems that if you've signed up to test Dune: Awakening, you should start checking your inbox, as Dopamine also says that invites for the next test have already started to trickle out the last few days. This test looks to be scheduled for early 2024, though the exact timing wasn't detailed.
