Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty may have been released earlier this year, but that doesn't mean developer CD Projekt Red is finished tinkering with things to make the game the best it can possibly be. One big complaint fans have had for quite a while is the difficulty of the Adam Smasher boss fight, as a lot of people think he goes down too easily for a man that's made of machinery and is one of Night City's most terrifying individuals.
For a while, fans have pointed to the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as an example of how it should feel fighting Adam Smasher, and CD Projekt Red seems to have agreed with them. In a recent REDstream talking about features coming in the final update, Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Paweł Sasko explains that Adam Smasher is getting an Edgerunners-inspired overhaul that will make him feel like "a proper boss".
While Sasko is a little light on details as he wants players to discover the new changes for themselves, he does reveal that Adam Smasher will now use Sandevistan during the fight, which leaves a glowing trail behind him when he zips around the arena. Sasko explains that the team thought Adam Smasher's use of the operating system in Edgerunners was "inspiring", so they worked to give it to Smasher in this new overhaul.
