Borderlands 4’s Upcoming Trailer Includes Gameplay; “Never-Before-Seen Cinematic” Also Inbound, Per Gearbox CEO
After announcing that Borderlands 4 would receive a new trailer at The Game Awards, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has confirmed that it will contain gameplay. Interestingly, Pitchford said “in addition” to a “lot” of in-game footage, he’ll showcase a “never-before-seen original cinematic sequence.”
It occurs halfway between Borderlands 3’s ending and the start of Borderlands 4, presumably bridging the narrative between both titles. Based on everything we know, it seems the new trailer is only a facet of Pitchford’s presence at the show, with the new gameplay and cinematic being separate. How extensive will the gameplay be? Stay tuned for more updates on December 12th when The Game Awards airs at 4:30 PM PST.
Borderlands 4 launches in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. The premise is a mystery, but there will be four new playable Vault Hunters. Take-Two Interactive has also assured it won’t launch too close to Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6. With how much Gearbox is showcasing, a late Summer launch is possible, though we’ll need to wait and see.
