In Baldur's Gate 3, if you want to change your party, you have to individually dismiss and recruit members at your camp. This means wandering around and sifting through dialogue to say "Go away" or "Come with me". It's not the most intuitive system, especially as their inventories don't transfer automatically, and has left a lot of people sticking with their original squad rather than faffing about. This is exactly why fans want Baldur's Gate 3 to adopt a party select screen.
In other RPGs like Mass Effect, you select your squad after leaving the hub. For Baldur's Gate 3, this would mean entering a new screen when selecting 'Leave Camp' that would ask which of your companions you want to bring with you. This would allow you to easily rotate party members in and out depending on the quests you're doing and the areas you're visiting. You might need Astarion in Act 3 when you visit his vampire lord, or you might need Lae'zel for meeting the Creche.
