Back when AMD introduced its AM5 platform for the Ryzen 7000 CPUs, the company promised a $125 US starting price point for the motherboards but despite launching months ago, there has been no AM5 motherboard available at that specific price point, until now.
ASRock seems to be the very first manufacturer of AM5 motherboards to have a product that lands on AMD's promised "starting price" of $125 US. As AMD's CVP and GM of Ryzen Channel Business, David McAfee points out, the motherboard is now listed for a price of $124.99 US over at Newegg & that's the lowest price, not only for ASRock's AM5 lineup but the entire AM5 motherboard lineup in general.
When AM5 launched I said that we would see motherboards starting at $125. As @HotHardware noticed, my timing *might* have been a bit off... The ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 is an entry-level motherboard that features a basic Micro-ATX form factor and houses the AM5 socket with an 8+2+1 phase VRM that is cooled by heatsinks. Power is provided through a single 8-pin connector and the motherboard houses just two DDR5 DIMM slots that can support up to 6400 Mbps+ (OC) speeds including EXPO memory. This would allow only up to 64 GB capacities until the latest AGESA 1.0.0.7 BIOS firmware comes out that will enable 24 & 48 GB memory support for up to 96 GB capacities on a motherboard with two DIMM slots.
As for connectivity, the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard houses two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, a single PCIe 4.0 x1 slot, and a single PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 M.2 slot. The M.2 slot features a heatsink
