Streamer Calls Out Kick For Giving Their Username To Popular Twitch User
Kick.com has a problem. The Twitch rival started operating back in 2021 but didn't really pick up steam until late last year. Since then, Twitch has made several controversial decisions, most notably lowering its revenue sharing from 70/30 to 50/50 for its most famous streamers. This has people like Trainwreck and Moist Critikal talking openly about their plans to end their exclusive streaming on Twitch in order to start streaming on Kick, which has a very generous 95/5 split with its streamers.
The flood, it seems, is on. Twitch streamers are leaving for the far more lucrative pastures of Kick. A 95-percent share of the ad revenue means that those disgruntled Twitch streamers are still making bank even with a fraction of the audience they had on Twitch, and Kick makes it a lot easier for those same streamers to get their money too.

Which leads us to that problem I mentioned earlier. Twitch folks who are jumping ship are finding that their names are already taken on Kick. This leaves Kick in a sticky situation. Some of these users have had those usernames since Twitch got started, but some of those Twitch streamers are big names that could really help grow the platform.
The solution in at least two cases has been for Kick to take usernames and hand ‘em over to the big Twitch star. Dexerto reported back in March that a Kick user by the name of Sunlihyt lost her name because it was “reserved” for someone on Twitch. And just two days ago, a Call of Duty streamer had her Kick username ripped away too.
