Apex Legends/Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Crossover Adds the Buster Sword and More to the Game

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is only a couple short months away, but if you want to kick off the FF7 fun early, you can in… Apex Legends. Yes, a new Apex Legends and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth crossover event kicks off next week, which will include a new takeover that will allow you to find and wield the iconic Buster Sword. In addition to that, you can expect the usual array of cosmetics, including some pretty cool-looking skins that see Apex heroes dressing up as the likes of Tifa, Aerith, Barrett, and Yuffie. Here's a few more details on how the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Takeover event will work…

“Worlds collide in our new BR Takeover featuring content that will be all too familiar to Final Fantasy VII  fans. Wield the power of a Buster Sword R2R5, which will have gameplay abilities and can be picked up and used as a weapon as a part of the Takeover. Get access to light and heavy attacks, blocking to reduce damage taken and dash to close the gap, and fill your meter to use the quintessential Limit Break. The more you deal, take, and block damage, the faster your meter will fill. If you don’t find a Buster Sword R2R5 hot off your drop, keep an eye out for them in Care Packages and around the map.

While you’re on the hunt for the ultimate weapon, look for Materia Hop-Ups for increased effects and/or bonuses. Each Materia Hop-Up has its own impact and will only attach with select weapons, and can spawn in the world and event-limited Cactuar Ticks!”

Apex Legends can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Switch. The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth event will run from January 9 to January 30. Cosmetics from the event can be acquired directly from the store or
