MTG Fan Destroys Ravnica Remastered Serialized Shock Land Worth $500

Magic: The Gathering's Ravnica Remastered set was released earlier this month, and it's already introduced some pretty pricey cards. For example, one of the more expensive cards in the set is the serialized shock land card Godless Shrine, which has been selling for up to $500 due to its limited number. There were 500 of these cards released in Ravnica Remastered, but we're now down to 499 thanks to the antics of Magic: The Gathering fan Lillian_of_the_veil.

Shared on Instagram earlier this week (thanks Wargamer), Lillian_of_the_veil posted an image of a Godless Shrine that their friend had pulled from a Ravnica Remastered Collector Pack. You can see the picture of the card down below, and the first thing you'll probably notice is that it's been completely torn in half. In the post, Lillian_of_the_veil explains that they managed to destroy the card in a game of Flip It or Rip It.

If you're unfamiliar, Flip It or Rip It is a game between two players who open a pack of cards and place them all face down without looking at what they've pulled. The person who purchased the pack chooses which cards are to be flipped over and kept, while the person they're playing against chooses the cards to be ripped up. It's a controversial game played across multiple TCGs, usually for a momentary thrill, and can have absolutely dire consequences if you pick poorly, as Lillian_of_the_veil found out this week.

Since this is already circulating MTG FB and Twitter, I figured I’d put out a little note of my own. My friend and I played Flip and Rip of a Ravnica collector pack and, well, lost.

Funnily enough, due to how rare these cards are, this Godless Shrine still has a bit of value, and is even worth more than a regular Godless Shrine in the same set. While it's no longer worth anywhere near the $500 it could have netted pre-rip, it was still valuable enough for their friend to trade in at their local game store for another collector's pack. Lillian_of_the_veil even went so far as to buy
