The new Ancient Caller Moira in Overwatch 2 Season 9 has nine total customization options – a big improvement from other recent Mythic Skins. This skin fixes a big problem many Overwatch 2 fans have had with the premium cosmetics in previous seasons.
Mythic skins are a customizable cosmetic introduced in Overwatch 2. Rather than a single appearance, these premium skins have multiple options to allow players to mix and match their favorite weapons, colors, and details. However, while early Mythic skins had almost a dozen options, some recent examples, like Onryo Hanzo and Grant Beast Orisa, have had a fraction of the choices, which disappointed many Overwatch 2 fans.
Overwatch 2 recently promised to make improvements to future Mythic skins – and now that Season 9: Champions is here, players are seeing exactly how the Hero shooter is fulfilling that promise. Ancient Caller Moira is the Mythic skin for this season, encapsulating the eldritch horror theme of the new Battle Pass. This creepy skin has nine different customization options spread across three categories: Weapon, Mask, and Color. While not quite as many as the 11 that Cyber Demon Genji, Amaterasu Kirko, or Galactic Emperor Sigma had, Ancient Caller is at the second-highest tier, along with Zeus Junker Queen and Adventurer Tracer.
This is an improvement on Onryo Hanzo and Grand Beast Orisa, the controversial Mythic Skins from Overwatch 2's last two seasons. Both of these skins could only customize their weapons and colors and had no other details to mix and match. While Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss claimed this was because the skins focused on unique VFX and sounds, fans made it clear that was not enough. Ancient Caller Moira evidences that Overwatch 2 is listening, and players are glad to see it.
