An Overwatch 2 fan has shared some mockups of souvenirs dropping when a hero is killed. Souvenirs are a rarely-used Overwatch 2 collectible that was added in Season 1, but this player has an idea to make them stand out more.
Overwatch 2 was released with the cosmetics of its predecessor while introducing some unique ones of its own. Beyond the different rarity skins, emotes, highlight intros, and more, Souvenirs were a fresh addition. A more common collectible that was introduced in Overwatch 2 is the Weapon Charm which can be added to any hero's weapon for some added flair. Many players have unlocked Souvenirs or Weapon Charms passively through the Battle Pass or acquired them by buying a Shop bundle. Because the Souvenirs take the place of Emotes, many gamers choose not to use them. One gamer has an idea to make Souvenirs a coveted item in the Battle Pass rather than an overlooked one.
Reddit user Vindictive-Victim recently shared four Overwatch 2 images highlighting their mockups for a new Souvenir idea. Rather than using the cosmetic item in the place of an Overwatch 2 Emote, the idea is to have them drop when a player is killed. The screenshots focus on a defeated Tracer that has different Souvenirs equipped despite the item being locked to one per character. The Tracer drops a Sombra skull, a chest, a blue figure, and a heart Souvenir when killed in the Training area. This idea would transfer into other game modes and competitive, where after a character dies, their equipped Souvenir would linger in their place for a moment.
Given that there are over 80 Overwatch 2 Souvenirs, this concept may give them more meaning and could make adding more of them to the game something players could anticipate. Going beyond Vindictive-Victim's idea, one player suggested that the mockups are the perfect idea for a Kill Confirmed game mode.
