While it's not the most popular creature in the world of Pokemon, one fan artist from the community has designed an unofficial mega evolution for Shuckle. This piece of fan art is as adorable as it is funny and represents just one of many custom mega evolution designs that Pokemon fans have been sharing lately, with the recent reveal of Pokemon Legends: Z-A rekindling interest in the already-popular mega evolution phenomenon.
With mega evolution absent from every core-series Pokemon game for the past six years, it's not surprising to see fans so excited over the confirmation of mega Pokemon returning in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which is set to release at an as-yet unconfirmed point next year. The buzz surrounding the upcoming game since its announcement at the end of February has resulted in no end of community artwork and custom creature designs focusing on mega Pokemon and the Kalos region, with fans sharing mega designs featuring Pokemon ranging from legendaries such as Yveltal to the starter Pokemon of the Paldea region.
With such fanmade designs gathering plenty of attention on social media over the past few weeks, one artist known as ClSulli has created something a little different, designing a mega form for Shuckle. This adorable design was inspired largely by the Pokemon Dudunsparce, in that it adds slightly to the appearance of its predecessor rather than totally overhauling its design, while also keeping it a little goofy. This Mega Shuckle design adds additional shell plating to various parts of the Pokemon's body, such as the head and limbs, which closely resembles the body protection used by skaters. This Pokemon's mega form is known to move at twice the speed of its regular counterpart thanks to its newfound skating abilities, while also boasting elevated defense stats.
