Pokemon GO is teasing the debut of Mega Heracross for April 13. Mega Evolutions have been a part of the Pokemon franchise since Pokemon X and Y were released in 2013. The concept eventually made its way to Pokemon GO, with most Mega Evolutions readily available in the augmented reality mobile game.
Pokemon GO Mega Evolutions work a bit differently than in the main series games. Players can Mega Evolve their Pokemon in Pokemon GO using Mega Energy, which is earned by winning Mega Raid Battles, walking with specific Buddy Pokemon, and completing certain quests. Mega Evolutions in Pokemon GO typically last for about eight hours and give Pokemon a significant boost in battle. While it may take a lot of resources, Mega Evolving is worth it for Pokemon GO players that need a boost in a fight.
While the vast majority of Mega Evolutions are available in Pokemon GO already, some still have yet to make their debut. There 10 Mega Evolutions missing in Pokemon GO at the time of this writing, but that will change when Mega Heracross is added to the game on April 13. While it wasn't explicitly stated by Niantic that Mega Heracross would be coming to Pokemon GO on April 13, the developer released a teaser video that is certainly pointing in that direction.
Once Mega Heracross is added to Pokemon GO, there will still be nine Mega Evolutions that need to make their debut. The Mega Evolutions still missing from Pokemon GO are Mega Audino, Mega Camerupt, Mega Gallade, Mega Lucario, Mega Mawile, Mega Metagross, Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Sharpedo. It's unclear why Niantic has yet to added these Mega Evolutions to Pokemon GO, but hopefully they will come to the game sooner rather than later.
While fans wait for the debut of more Mega Evolutions in Pokemon GO, they can participate in the World of Wonders season. The ongoing season is focused on Ultra Beasts, but is host to all kinds of other specially-themed events for fans to enjoy.
