The automobile extravaganza in Hollywood is currently proceeding at full throttle, with the latest entry in the frenzy being the much-awaited biopic on the Maserati family. Set to be helmed by Oscar-winner Bobby Moresco, the movie has already recruited Sir Anthony Hopkins to occupy one of its leading roles. In a recent development, the cast seems to have added another Academy Award nominee to its roster in the form of .
The Godfather Part III alum will reportedly play a key figure in the Maserati brothers’ life in the upcoming biopic on the celebrated car manufacturers.
The update regarding Andy Garcia’s casting in Maserati: The Brothers was first circulated by Deadline. According to their report, the veteran actor will embody Mr. Rossini, who seemingly played a significant part in the rise of the Maserati brothers, in the movie. Meanwhile, Anthony Hopkins and Michele Morrone will be portraying an Italian financier and Alfieri Il Maserati, respectively.
Producer Andrea Iervolino also took some time out to reflect on Andy Garcia’s inclusion in the upcoming sports movie. “Andy Garcia is an actor of incredible depth and versatility. His ability to bring authenticity and intensity to every role makes his contribution to Maserati: The Brothers unique and invaluable.” Iervolino added, “His performance will add further prestige to this story that celebrates Italian innovation and passion, and we are honored to have him in our cast.”
The movie centers around the story of the three Maserati brothers, namely Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto. Renowned for its luxury vehicles nowadays, the 1914 company initially found its roots in the world of car racing. Alfieri Maserati, played by Morrone in the upcoming movie, famously lost his life at age 44 due to injuries he sustained while competing in the 1927 Messina Cup race, Maserati’s debut Grand Prix.
Filming for the project will commence in Italy in late November.
