Now that remakes are proving to be an easy and reliable way to make mountains of cash from already established titles, every publisher out there is diving into their vaults to see if they have a fan favorite classic they can spruce up. Obviously, some titles have a lot more promise as a 3D remake than others, but the increasing popularity of the 'HD-2D remake' has opened up a few new doors.

If you're wondering what 'HD-2D' means, it's a unique art style that is primarily associated with Square Enix, used in titles like Live A Live, Triangle Strategy, and Octopath Traveler 2. It allows developers to use a simplified pixel art style, but still make a title feel modern and fresh.
