Another Nintendo Indie World showcase has come and gone, which means Hollow Knight fans are once again dismayed about the lack of Silksong news. If we're being sensible, Silksong will likely be reserved for a much more prestigious event like Summer Games Fest or one of the big three's summer showcases given how massive a title it's going to be, but that didn't stop some Hollow Knight fans from setting their expectaions way too high. One of them now seems to fed up of waiting.
First shared to the Hollow Knight subreddit, a user by the name of u/Falcon175 has uploaded a video showcasing their attempt to create their own version of Hollow Knight: Silksong, albeit it's been put together in just a few days. The video is a fairly basic demonstration, as Hornet jumps her way along several long, black platforms, taking down a couple of familiar enemies and avoiding spikes along the way.

In the replies and description of their video, u/Falcon175 explains how they put the project together, and that the entire thing has just been a nice way to get to grips with the Unity engine. They explain that all of the assets used in the video have been taken from the original Hollow Knight, including the voice for Hornet, enemy designs, and background, but stresses that the project won't be distributed in any way. Probably best for it to stay like that unless they want Team Cherry's lawyers breaking down their door.
While the video itself is quite simple, as there are a few missing animations, zero detail in the environment, and some artifacting around the plantlife, it's still a pretty impressive effort considering it was put together by a solo developer in just three days.
