Although Link’s iconic Master Sword is one of the best weapons he unlocks in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, it actually isn’t the most powerful weapon the game has to offer. Link finds the Master Sword in Hyrule Castle, which rests at the bottom of the Great Sea. While it’s a required weapon that lands the final blow against Ganondorf, other weapons have the potential to wipe out regular enemies much faster than even the Master Sword can — namely, the Light Arrows.
Light Arrows are another required weapon in The Wind Waker that are used to fell Ganondorf at the end of the game. Although Zelda is the one wielding them in the final fight, Link must use them prior to the concluding boss battle to defeat certain boss enemies. But even outside of the instances where the Zelda series’ iconic Light Arrows’ magical power is required to progress, they’re by far the strongest weapon Link has at his disposal when facing off against regular enemies.

In The Wind Waker, Light Arrows can defeat any non-boss enemy with a single shot regardless of if they wear armor or not; they can even pierce through multiple enemies at a time. This means that even the very threatening and heavily armored Darknut enemies can be reduced to little more than an inconvenience so long as Link has enough magic to keep firing Light Arrows at them in Wind Waker. While other weapons, such as the Skull Hammer, can come close to this level of effectiveness, they still don’t hold a candle to the sheer power and versatility of the Light Arrows.
