Taika Waititi explains why Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie isn't thrilled with her administrative duties as King of Asgard in Thor: Love and Thunder. The fourth installment in thefranchise, and the God of Thunder's first outing since Avengers Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder will see the titular deity going up against Gorr the God Butcher and encountering a rich cast of new characters, including Russel Crowe as Zeus. It's not all new faces, as Love and Thunder will also see the return of the franchise's most popular characters, including Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, Waititi's comedic Kronan Korg, and Tessa Thompson as the name-taking Valkyrie.
Making her first appearance in Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie was an immediate hit. She became one of Thor's most brutally honest friends with a wise-cracking mouth, a penchant for the bottle, and fists that could level the most formidable fighter. After surviving the blip and fighting alongside the Avengers in Endgame, Love and Thunder sees Valkyrie in a new position, King of New Asgard.
