Following the success of 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi also returns to helm this highly-anticipated MCU installment, which will not only see the return of Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, but will also welcome back Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, taking up the mantle of the Mighty Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder will also see Christian Bale star as MCU's terrifying new villain, Gorr the God butcher.
Thor: Love and Thunder serves as Hemsworth's fourth standalone film as the God of Thunder after a string of memorable performances throughout his MCU career. From earlier teasers, many speculated that the film could potentially act as both Hemsworth and Thor's last hurrah. However, Waititi recently countered these claims by revealing that he has many more Thor stories that he would like to explore going forward. The release of the first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer featured a brief clip of a younger Thor, who many quickly pointed out to have a strong likeness to Hemsworth's own young son.
