While Jane Foster's Thor looks poised to possibly steal the show in Thor: Love and Thunder, it is unclear if she will be sticking around for a future in the MCU. It has been a long time since MCU devotees got to catch up with Jane, played by Natalie Portman, on the big screen. While Jane made a brief appearance during Avengers: Endgame's time heist, it was done with unused footage from Thor: The Dark World. Considering that, Thor: Love and Thunder will see Portman's first live-action performance as Jane in nearly a decade.
Portman did, however, already make a small return to the MCU in animated form, voicing Jane in a memorable episode of Marvel's What If? Disney+ show. The episode focused on how Thor would be different without Loki becoming his brother. Now, Portman is taking a big chunk of the spotlight in Thor: Love and Thunder, bringing to life Jane's Mighty Thor incarnation from the comics. It remains to be seen how Jane will gain the powers of Thor in the MCU, but this conceit is by no means something invented solely for movies.

While Portman playing a female Thor is certainly a development with detractors, some due to straight-up sexism and others because they fear her possibly usurping Chris Hemsworth's spot in the MCU, many also look forward to seeing what her Mighty Thor will get up to in Thor: Love and Thunder. With Love and Thunder releasing soon, the big question will then become whether or not Jane Foster's Thor will have an MCU future after the film. There are certainly points for and against that notion.
