Having premiered this past June, the MCU series has received largely favorable reviews from critics for Vellani's performance, its brighter tone and fast-paced direction, though has seen some backlash and review bombing from the toxic side of the MCU fanbase. The filmmaker directed his praise towards Ms. Marvel after the MCU show's review bomb, expressing his love for the show's exploration of its titular heroine's Muslim heritage.
