Actress Natalie Portman has discussed a particular scene in Thor: Love and Thunder, vowing to never divulge what she said in a key moment where she whispers in Thor's ear. This story contains major spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder.
In Love and Thunder, Portman's Jane Foster is revealed to have Stage 4 cancer. She travels to New Asgard to try to prolong her life and ends up taking up Mjolnir on her way to becoming Mighty Thor.
Unfortunately for her, wielding the weapon does not wipe out her cancer. In a pivotal battle at the end of the film, Mighty Thor saves the day and helps defeat Gorr the God Butcher, at the cost of her life. Throughout the film, there is a running gag about what Mighty Thor's perfect catchphrase should be, and she finally utters it to Thor by whispering in his ear just before she dies.
Just what is that catchphrase? We may never know. Portman told CinemaBlend, «That scene was really, really fun to shoot, and yes, there is a specific line, but I will never reveal it.»
Presumably Chris Hemsworth and writer-director Taika Waititi know what the line is, but whether or not it ever gets divulged remains to be seen.
While Portman's Mighty Thor leaves her earthly body at the end of Love and Thunder, the post-credits scene reveals she has found a new life in Valhalla and is hanging out with Idris Elba's Heimdall.
Love and Thunder made more than $300 million worldwide over its opening weekend, and it's expected to continue to put up big numbers this weekend and beyond.
