Valkyrie actor Tessa Thompson opens up on using Zeus' Thunderbolt weapon in Thor: Love and Thunder. Acting as Chris Hemsworth's fourth solo Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder depicts the character questioning his role in the universe while also confronting a new villain in the form of Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. The film is once more directed by Taika Waititi, who also directed 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. Initial social media reactions to Thor: Love and Thunder have been mostly positive so far, with many critics praising the movie's humor and new villain.
Among the returning cast of characters for the upcoming film is Thompson's Valkyrie. First introduced in Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie also appeared in Avengers: Endgame in the final battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin). Trailers for the upcoming Thor film have teased some of what Valkyrie is up to in the latest MCU entry, revealing that the character remains King of Asgard after Thor appointed her to the role at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Although brief, trailers for Thor: Love and Thunder also show Valkyrie wielding Zeus' (Russell Crowe) Thunderbolt weapon in a tense fight against Gorr the God Butcher.

Despite that, Thompson still says her time with the weapon was "very fun," and she even compares Crowe's training with the Thunderbolt to her initial training with Dragon Fang, Valkyrie's sword.
