Taika Waititi details what his Thor: Love and Thunder director's cut would look like. After the success of 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi and Hemsworth team up once more for Thor: Love and Thunder. The Phase 4 MCU film introduces a brand new villain in the form of Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher and brings back Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), this time wielding Mjölnir and carrying the title of Mighty Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder opened this past weekend, earning $29 million in Thursday night previews, with strong performance carrying through both Friday and Saturday.
Thor: Love and Thunder has received more mixed reviews than is typical for MCU fare, currently holding a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. While many critics praise the film's humor and Bale's performance as Gorr, some have taken issue with its tonal inconsistencies and lackluster visuals. Thor: Love and Thunder also runs noticeably shorter than most MCU movies, clocking in at just under two hours. This shorter runtime could be a result of the movie having a lot of scenes cut, as often happens when a film's final edit is coming together. Sometimes these deleted scenes are offered later, and other times they're added back in for special releases or director's cuts. For Waititi, though, there's little appeal to deleted scenes, but he recently shared what his Love and Thunder director's cut would be.
