During Chapter 8 of , players compete in a Chocobo race to earn their freedom from the Dustbowl. Their Chocobo, Piko, needs nutritious Sylkis Greens to stand a chance in the race. Getting these Sylkis Greens is fairly simple, as completing three of six possible sub-quests is all it takes to get enough Greens to feed Piko.
Most of these sub-quests can be completed with ease, but a few of the latter quests listed may be a tad challenging. Specifically, "" involves taking out a swarm of small Cactuar, whose fast flurry of attacks can quickly wipe out a player's party. It is recommended that the players be around level 30 to complete all six of the Greens sub-quests.
Piko only needs three Sylkis Greens to compete in the race, but Cloud can collect six Greens total through various sub-quests. The remaining three Greens can be traded for gear later on, but this is not required to progress the main story. In order from least to most difficult and time-consuming, the sub-quests are:
Head to the main path in the south-east corner of the Dustbowl, then duck under some wreckage to visit the «Getting By in a Cruel World» booth and attend a "Swindling Seminar in ." To get the Sylkis Greens reward, players must identify which of the five contestants is telling the truth. Visit the locations the contestants mention and verify their statements, then select the truthful person to win the Greens.
In the same area as the previous sub-quest, Cloud will need to defeat all three Queen's Bloodplayers. These players are not very high-level, so most players with a reasonably sized deck should be able to beat them without a problem. Once all three are defeated, head south to the House of Cards to collect the Greens from the Card Collector.
Next to the trio of Queen's Blood players will be a small group of suspicious thugs. They will taunt the party into fighting them. Slowly walk to the shadowy, secluded area nearby and fight them. They are not difficult to beat and will reward one
