When it comes to the game studios known for their level design, you don't get much better than FromSoftware. Over the course of the past two decades, the studio has been responsible for creating some of the most intricate and complex levels in the gaming history, and FromSoftware fans recently went back through the developer's soulslike catalog to name their favorite level from each.
Reddit user Ham_PhD's little project started out with Demon's Souls, which is a lot more structured than its successors, choosing to have more standalone levels than an interconnected world. Boletarian Palace is a popular shout by many, seeing as it's literally the first level that introduced a lot of people to the entire soulslike genre, but it was the Prison of Hope that won in the end, mostly because of its spooky vibes and the overall popularity of Latria as a whole.
Dark Souls was up next, and we won't go into it much as pretty much everyone in the thread picked Anor Londo, seeing as it's the culmination of everything that made the original Dark Souls great. Dark Souls 2 was a little more contested, but it was the Brume Tower which surprisingly won out, with the reasoning being its unique visuals and its inclusion of the Fume Knight, arguably the game's most popular boss fight.
Bloodborne was yet another predictable outcome, with Central Yharnam arguably being the peak of FromSoftware's ability, and a masterful example of its weaving shortcut system. Dark Souls 3 was a bit of a controversial one though, as many felt like Irithyll of the Boreal Valley won out due to its aesthetic rather than its overall design, and that Lothric Castle should have taken its place, but it was deemed too short to take the spot.
Tensions were high again as fans voted for Sekiro's best level, which ended up being Fountainhead Palace, to the dismay of those who prefer substance to aesthetic once again. It was a close contest between Fountainhead Palace and Ashina Castle, though the former won out
