The Witcher star Freya Allen, who plays Geralt's adopted daughter Ciri, has explained in a recent interview that she was relieved to find out that the show would finally be ending after Season 5, saying that she was "kind of finished with it mentally."
The Witcher has had its ups and downs in recent years, though you'll struggle to find a passionate fan of the series that's enthusiastic about Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as our silver-haired protagonist. Ever since the announcement, Netflix has struggled to get fans back on board, with complaints over lackluster costumes, disrespectful lore changes, and shoddy CGI surfacing upon the release of each new season.
It must be quite a strain on the actors involved in the show for them to have to deal with such negativity, and one person that seems to be excited about the series coming to an end in Season 5 is Ciri actor Freya Allen, who explained in an interview with Inverse (thanks Screen Rant) that she was "kind of finished with [the show] mentally" and was struggling to overcome potentially doing two more seasons.
Allen admits that having to do two more seasons would have been "a challenge", and that the show will be the "end of a massive chapter" that she's excited about, but she also thinks that she's also going to be "shocked at how much that hits me" when the day finally arrives. Hopefully, the recasting of Geralt doesn't detract too much from the show and these last two seasons are turned into something that Allen can fondly look back on.
It's also probably best for a TV show to end if its actors are mentally checked out. If an actor like Allen is kind of glad a sixth season isn't being made, chances are you're not going to get the best performance out of her, even if she's professional and puts her all into it.
