In addition to a Giant Purple Toad, players must find a magical beast in called a Diricawl to complete a side assignment from Professor Howin before unlocking the powerful Damage spell Bombarda. An elusive creature that resembles a cerulean or pale yellow dodo bird, players will have to travel to the Highlands portion of the open-world outside Hogwarts and Hogsmeade in order to capture one. Although the best area to catch a Diricawl has a group of Inferius that spawn as an obstacle, players should have enough magic at their disposal to defeat these enemies swiftly.
Plenty of Diricawl can be located near Lower Hogsfield, a section of the Highlands south of Hogwarts best traveled to by using the Keenbridge Floo Flame fast travel spot. Players that head northwest from the Floo Flame will eventually have to climb a hill that happens to host a set of ruins, where a Diricawl Den resides.

As seen by content creator ZaFrostPet, this area becomes far easier to spot from the air if players have acquired their Broomstick in Hogwarts Legacy, but they'll have to land somewhere a bit further away from the den so the beasts aren't startled away before landing.
Thankfully, players have a tool called the Nab-Sack that helps them capture types of beasts including a Diricawl, a gift given from the house-elf Deek. The unfortunate downside to the Diricawl revolves around their quick movements and ability to vanish or teleport when threatened, making them a far harder creature to catch as opposed to the Giant Purple Toad needed for the side quest.
