Warframe: 1999 is coming soon, and we’ll know when next week, as Digital Extremes has been dripping out new info and the latest is the promised animated short, serving as the update’s prologue.
The Hex, the Warframe: 1999 Animated Prologue video was released today, and it does show the Protoframes at work in a battle that precedes the update. While the studio has been talking about an “animated short”, which made animation studio The Line, this is under 2 minutes long, and many are having a similar reaction: that it feels more like a teaser trailer.
While this is a new short, and running time doesn’t determine how good something is, we do get some new time with these characters who will feature in the update and be significant in events to come in Warframe. You should definitely watch the short if you’re waiting for Warframe: 1999, though.
According to a fan on Reddit, echoing a number of other comments, “Don't get me wrong I like the animation, but it's just way too many long close-ups and definitely over hyped, I too as some others were expecting ascension day/Styanax short length”.
As we said earlier, Digital Extremes is dripping out info and details recently, and we can’t blame them for wanting to keep hype high. We’ll know more next week at The Game Awards.
There isn’t much longer to wait, and yes, this animated prologue may be brief, but it is well made.
