Peacock's Twisted Metal series continues to fill out its core cast with the addition of Thomas Haden Church. The half-hour action comedy comes from writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai). Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) are set to star in the adaptation of the popular Playstation demolition derby video game series. Mackie plays John Doe, a motor-mouthed outsider tasked with delivering a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland in exchange for the chance at a better life. He's aided by Beatriz's gun-crazy car thief and the two forge a shaky alliance.
Now, Peacock has announced Thomas Haden Church will join the cast as «Agent Stone.» Stone is a ruthless and unforgiving highway patrolman of the post-apocalypse. He "rules the roads with a silver tongue and a twisted iron fist, prosecuting even the smallest crimes with the harshest of judgment" and will do whatever it takes to bring his version of justice to the Divided States of America.

Haden Church is most known for playing affable buffoons, such as Jack in Sideways and Lobster Johnson in Hellboy. Even his villains tend to have a softer, or more buffoonish side, like Lyle Van de Groot in George of the Jungle and Flint Marko (aka Sandman) in Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it will be interesting to see him lean into his darker side for a character.
