The Fatal Attraction series coming to Paramount+ casts Amanda Peet following Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson. The Fatal Attraction film is a psychological thriller about a married man, Dan, who has an affair with a woman, Alex, who soon becomes dangerously obsessed with him. In the show, Caplan will play Alex, while Jackson takes on the role of Dan. The Fatal Attraction series will explore themes from the film such as marriage and infidelity but will do so through modern conceptions of strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control. Alexandra Cunningham (Desperate Housewives,Dirty John) is the writer, showrunner, and executive producer for the series.
Paramount+ announced that Peet has joined the cast as Beth, Dan's wife, in the television adaptation of the film. She is described as "a loyal wife, loving mother and successful small business owner whose world unravels when her husband Dan’s indiscretion threatens to destroy their life together."

With Michael Douglas, Glenn Close, and Anne Archer playing the main roles in the film, Jackson, Caplan, and Peet will have their work cut out for them to fill their shoes. That being said, all three leads in the new series are adept at taking on starring roles, and having the veteran writer and producer Cunningham on board may make the reboot enjoyable even for those who know the plot of the original. For her part, Peet is known for her roles in television series such as Dirty John and Brockmire. Her ability to walk the line between comedy and drama in shows like that may be especially useful for the new series.
