The new week always brings a new set of words to solve, and the Monday word could cause a few players to lose their long-standing win streaks. For our attempt today we barely pulled it off, but with a little luck, and our daily hints below, you should have no issue solving the puzzle for yourself.
Before jumping into any game it's important to have a strong beginning word, or a combo of starting words, and keep it consistent. Words with lots of vowels, like IRATE, POUND, or STARE help to get a good chunk of popular letters right off the bat. Using the same starting word every day will make it easier to learn how to move forward based on the initial clues given. After a few games, you'll be solving words in no time.

The October 16th answer is GRAPH.
This was a close one for us and almost a loss. Our starting word was IRATE which provided an excellent head start with two correctly placed letters. Moving forward we tried CRAWL, this only added to the incorrect letters list and helped push us toward the goal. Our third attempt was PRANK which gave us a new letter, even if it was in the wrong position.
As attempts started to dwindle we tried GRAMP as our fourth guess, this locked in a new letter 'G' and provided the only possible spot left for 'P'. Knowing it had to fit in the fourth position, we moved the 'P' and tried GRAPY. This was our fifth
