With Remedy's long-awaited sequel now just two days away from release, the launch trailer for Alan Wake 2 has been published. You can check it out below (or will you be stronger and avoid any spoilers?).
Last week, the Finnish studio dropped detailed PC system requirements for Alan Wake 2. Unsurprisingly, it will be a heavy game on your configurations due to its highly advanced Northlight engine-powered graphics. Not even the NVIDIA GTX 10 Series and AMD Radeon RX 5000 Series graphics cards are supported due to their lack of DirectX 12 Ultimate's Mesh Shaders functionality.
Yesterday, NVIDIA offered a preview of the performance of Alan Wake 2 on its GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs. According to NVIDIA, its flagship graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4090, averages 134.4 frames per second at 4K resolution output with DLSS Super Resolution set to Performance and Frame Generation + Ray Reconstruction also turned on. All these DLSS features combined offer a 4.1x performance boost compared to native rendering.
Tatu Aalto, Lead Graphics Programmer at Remedy Entertainment, said in a statement:
The new Ray Reconstruction feature in DLSS 3.5 renders our fully ray-traced world more beautifully than ever before, bringing you deeper into the story of Alan Wake 2.
Earlier this week, Remedy's Communications Director Thomas Puha also confirmed that the game's PlayStation 5 and PC versions will take advantage of the DualSense controller's unique features, namely haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Not all games do that despite the lack of any obstacles, so kudos to Remedy.
DualSense support. For example, "feel" rain pattern on the controller. Each weapon feels different on the trigger, so a shotgun will be markedly different from the crossbow.
