The new is available and today's word could easily cause a few players to lose their long-standing win streak. It's not that there is any sort of trick used in today's puzzle, but it contains a lesser-used letter, which can always mess up a good run.
For those who prefer a little more difficulty in their daily challenge, there is always the Hard Mode which is activated through the options menu. This locks in clues and forces players to use whatever they've solved in each subsequent answer. This is a great way to lower the amount of guesses used in a day but also requires a little more critical thinking on the player's part.

For those who may need a little extra push in the right direction, without fully wanting today's answer spoiled for them, we've provided a few hints to help out.
Hint 1
There are no repeating letters.
Hint 2
The answer is used as a verb, noun, preposition, and adjective.
Hint 3
The vowels are in the 2nd and 4th position.
Hint 4
Something specified or stated.
The October 22nd answer is GIVEN.
For our starting word today we used IRATE. This provided both vowels and an excellent start to the Sunday puzzle. Mixing them up a bit our second attempt was PILES which ended up locking both vowels in the correct spaces and added a few more letters to the incorrect pile.
