While PC and PlayStation 5 players have been thoroughly enjoying my game of the year, Baldur’s Gate 3, Xbox players are still waiting patiently. Good news! Larian Studios’ CEO, Swen Vincke, confirmed Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox release is “still on schedule” for 2023.
Swen Vincke just got back from his first holiday in years (which I’m very glad to hear, he absolutely deserves a vacation) and one of his first Tweets back was an update on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date.

Latest on the Xbox – being actively playtested, still on schedule for this year. We'll announce the exact release date when we're sure it's done.
Though we still don’t have a concrete Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date, we do have the assurance from the CEO of the makers of Baldur’s Gate 3 himself that the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release is still scheduled to release in 2023.
Once Larian Studios finishes playtesting Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox, which is what they are currently doing, and are satisfied with the performance, they will reveal the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date.
It shouldn’t be long now — I would expect to see the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date set for late November or early December. That’s just my guess but it is nice knowing Larian Studio’s CEO is confident that Baldur’s Gate 3 will come to Xbox before January 1, 2024.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a current-gen only game, meaning it’s only playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and soon Xbox Series X and S. Though Larian Studios doesn’t need to jump through hoops to make sure Baldur’s Gate 3 is enjoyable on current-gen and last-gen consoles, it does need to make sure it runs great on Xbox Series X and S.
