The PlayStation Portal Is Back In Stock At Walmart
PlayStation and Xbox probably won't be releasing their own handheld consoles anytime soon because, well, trying to compete with Nintendo in that arena would be ill-advised. PlayStation did just release the PlayStation Portal, though. A handheld device rather than a standalone console since it needs WiFi and to be paired to a PS5 in order to work. Seemingly something a lot of PS5 owners are in the market for as the Portal has been sold out in the US pretty much everywhere since release day.
More stock popped up in the UK through PS Direct last week, and the US site tells people to check back in early December. There's a glimmer of hope for the latter right now though as Walmart appears to have the Portal back in stock. There's a slight problem, though. Either Walmart's Portal page has buckled under the pressure, or the stock is being added in waves, Amazon-style, as clicking the link below doesn't appear to be working 100 percent of the time.
The PlayStation Portal is a handheld companion to Sony's PlayStation 5 console. Based around the features of a DualSense controller and Remote Play, it features an eight-inch LCD screen at 1080p resolution capable of 60fps, a headphone jack for wired audio.
Whatever the problem is, if you're eager to grab a Portal, even with the promise of more coming to PS Direct potentially as early next week, I'd recommend persisting with Walmart fro now. Much like the PS5 when it launched three years ago, refreshing and waiting in virtual queues was the key to finally landing a console. The good news here is (hopefully) finally bagging a Portal won't be nearly as difficult as finding a PS5 was.
