In the new Guardians of the Dream chapter, Moira Thaurissan, Queen of the Dark Iron is one of the allies from Azeroth who can be seen answering the call to protect Amirdrassil. In a recent interview with Wowhead, Anne Stickney also mentioned Moira, revealing that both she and her son, Dagran II, will play a role inThe War Within!
It's been some time since we've seen Moira or Dagran II, so we thought we'd revisit these characters.
Daughter of Magni Bronzebeard, former king of Ironforge, Princess Moira was captured and held hostage many years ago by the Dark Iron clan. However, Moira found herself falling in love with Emperor Dagran Thaurissan, leader of the Dark Iron. While her own father had always impressed upon her that, as a woman, he would never consider her good enough to inherit his throne, Dagran viewed her as an equal, and treated her political opinions with respect. Before long, the two were married.
Furious, Magni sent assassins to kill King Dagran and retrieve his daughter, but Moira, who was pregnant, was utterly devastated and enraged by the murder of her husband, and refused to return home. Instead, she turned her attention to fulfilling her husband's vision. The Dark Iron were enslaved by the elemental lord Ragnaros, and Dagran had desired to free his clan.
By spreading the news that Ragnaros was amassing an army, and also that there was a great deal of treasure to be gained by defeating him, Moira managed to attract powerful champions to the Molten Core to defeat the Firelord.
