Thor: Love and Thunderdirector Taika Waititi explains Thor's existential crisis in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film. After three solo outings and a number of Avengers team-ups, Chris Hemsworth's Thor is set to return to the MCU once more with Thor: Love and Thunder. Waititi returns to the director's chair for the film after previously helming 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, which was a hit both critically and commercially, earning over $854 million at the box office.
Trailers for Thor: Love and Thunder have teased the introduction of a new villain to the MCU, the infamous Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. Promotional material has also revealed that the film will pick up where Avengers: Endgame left off, showing Thor sporting the same bulkier physique before he sets to work getting back into shape and attempts to discover his new place in the world. In addition to Hemsworth and Bale, Thor: Love and Thunder features a standout cast, including Chris Pratt, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Russell Crowe, among others.
