Thor: Love and Thunderdirector Taika Waititi teases some epic cameos in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie that can't be discussed. After two Shakespearean-inspired installments — 2011's Thor helmed by Kenneth Branagh and 2013'sThe Dark World, which was directed by Alan Taylor and met with mixed reception — Waititi was brought on board for the threequel, Ragnarok. Released in 2017, the movie completely overhauled the style and tone of the Thor series. Though Marvel's sub-franchises typically don't extend beyond a trilogy, a fourth Thor movie was announced later in 2019.
Chris Hemsworth returns to lead the Thor: Love and Thunder cast as the titular God of Thunder alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and Waititi as the voice of Korg. The incomparable Christian Bale makes his MCU debut as primary antagonist Gorr the God Butcher, a vengeful galactic killer seeking the extinction of all gods, including Russell Crowe's newcomer Zeus. In addition to the main cast, the Guardians of the Galaxy will also appear in Love and Thunder along with a few high-profile actors confirmed to be making cameo appearances.

During an interview about Thor: Love and Thunder (via ComicBook), Waititi discusses the possibility of the Marvel film surprising audiences with exciting cameos. The director is asked if Love and Thunder will meet the high set bar set by Ragnarok in terms of cameos, and he simply answers, "Yes." Waititi wisely does not elaborate further on the film's surprise appearances, explaining, "Otherwise it won't be a cameo. You can't talk about it. Then they may as well be on the poster."
