Chris Hemsworth has named Christian Bale's Thor: Love and Thunder villain Gorr the God Butcher as one of his favorite enemies throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Having been a staple of the MCU since his debut in 2011's Thor, Hemsworth has faced droves of baddies in his time as an Avenger and beyond. His latest adventure, the Taika Waititi-directed Love and Thunder, will now see him take on Bale's fanatical Gorr.
The character of Gorr is a fairly recent addition to Marvel comics. Debuting in 2013's Thor: God of Thunder #1 as a religious zealot, Gorr loses his religion and pledges to slay every god in the universe after his family is killed. Blaming indifferent gods for his loss and suffering, he assumes the title of the God Butcher. Naturally, this god-killing mission eventually leads him to Thor, the God of Thunder. Gorr will be brought to life in Love and Thunder by Bale, who recently admitted he didn't know what he'd be getting himself into by taking a role in the MCU.

In a recent interview with IGN, Hemsworth spoke about working with Bale and how his performance has already cemented Gorr as one of Hemsworth's favorite Marvel villains. Citing Bale's nuance and complexity, Hemsworth called his costar not only one of his favorite Marvel villains, but one of his favorite actors working today. Check out his comments below:
Everything you'd imagine [Bale] would bring to it… Nuance and complexity and truth, levity. He's one of my favorite actors working, and I was so excited he agreed to jump on board here. What's he's done is that he's definitely one
