The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, a parody visual novel released for April Fool's Day, has better reviews than every recent game in the series.
Over on Steam, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog already has over 5,000 reviews, with the consensus being "overwhelmingly positive". Sonic Frontiers, on the other hand, has "very positive" reviews, obviously meaning that Sonic being murdered makes for a better game in every conceivable way.

"I can't believe Sonic the Hedgehog is fucking dead," reads one positive review. "I ain't a furry but damn Amy's a baddie," says another.
Such glowing reviews are enough to put the general consensus above that of Sonic Frontiers, Origins, Mania, and Team Sonic Racing. Better yet, it even has more reviews on Steam than the latter, despite only being shared on the platform yesterday evening.
Considering it launched less than 24 hours ago, there are currently no reviews for the game on Metacritic. Like, seriously, none of us knew it was happening, there were no review codes or anything. Still, I think we can expect the same outpouring of love from fans over there, as players insist this is our first serious Game of the Year contender of 2023. Sorry, Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Understandably, it helps that this daft little murder mystery is free to play. It's also incredibly accessible, so anyone with a laptop shouldn't have a problem running it. Considering how approachable it is, we're likely to see a lot of fans try it out over April Fool's Day.
