The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been in cinemas for a matter of hours at the time of typing this so I naturally have one question and one question only. When are we getting a sequel? Thankfully I'm not the only one who is already thinking about what's next as Chris Pratt and Charlie Day have already made it abundantly clear that they'd be very up for a sequel.
“Yes, I'd love that,” was Pratt's immediate answer when asked about the potential of a second movie by GamesRadar. Day, who voices Luigi, went a step further, admitting he'll be in as many movies as Nintendo and Illumination cast him for. “I think I’d do as many as they wanted me to do,” Day replied, hinting at a Luigi's Mansion spinoff yet again.

“I would love to keep doing it and Luigi has got a whole mansion he can wander around and be scared in.” A potential Luigi's Mansion movie has been coming up just about every time Day has been asked about his role as a Mario brother for more than a year. The Always Sunny actor made sure to bring it up again ahead of the movie's release date, and it's been mentioned so often it's hard to imagine it hasn't also been discussed in an official capacity.
No spoilers here (I won't be seeing the movie myself until tomorrow) but Pratt confirmed prior to release that cinemagoers will want to stick around during the Mario movie's credits. Apparently there's a scene that opens the door for a sequel and teases what it might include should it happen. Perhaps something akin to the Sonic movies which had a credits scene introducing Tails at the end of the first movie and then (spoiler alert) Shadow at the end of Sonic 2.
