The first few weeks of 2024 have thoroughly dispelled the notion that this year was going to be a slower one than the last one, with a string of several excellent new games already having launched in January. Last week, Tekken 8 joined that growing list, and the widespread critical acclaim that Bandai Namco’s fighter has enjoyed is being reflected in its engagement numbers as well.
As per SteamDB, at launch, Tekken 8 hit a peak concurrent user count of nearly 50,000 players on Steam- 49,977, to be precise. That’s well over twice as much as the all-time peak concurrent user count that Tekken 7 saw in its lifetime, at 18,966 players.
Bandai Namco has four DLC characters planned for Tekken 8’s roster over the coming year, with the first, Eddy Gordo, set to arrive this Spring. The other three characters will be added in Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
In our review of Tekken 8, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Tekken 8 is a shot in the arm for the series, advancing the story while offering addictive combat, exceptional presentation and a suite of features to attract new and experienced players.” Read the full review through here.
Tekken 8 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
