Tarisland has a new developer update focusing on optimization efforts in the works for the basic player experience and peripheral system experiences ahead of the upcoming technical test.
The team continues to work on updates that are in response toplayer feedback in playtests. Work is ongoing, and some of the player experience items on the list are addressed here (via the Tarisland Discord). Their top priority is performance optimization, from reducing power consumption, supporting more machine configurations, and overall fine-tuning and performance improvements.
Combat is getting addressed, with particular emphasis on improving feedback and criticism saying the hit feel was boring, the kill sound effect dull, and combat felt vague. This is getting special attention, as the team has “set up a special task force that includes action designers, animators, special effects experts, and sound engineers. They will be working on enhancing the combat hit feel from all angles, such as synchronizing the hits and improving the sound effects”.
Storyline animation and effects, particularly on mobile, are also getting updates and optimization passes. As Tarisland continues towards its cross-platform release, making mobile work without a hit to performance is their goal. The devs have made 120 changes to early-game quests, and progression in the form of adjustments to dailies.
On the peripheral system optimization front, they’ve announced that equipment empowerment, their enhancement system, will not be a one-time thing anymore. “Instead, it can now be inherited by the next equipment you put on,” they said, meaning the efforts you put in count for more.
They’re still working on separating Inscribed Stones from exploration, and reducing the grind for the Manual of Destiny. Completing quests will grant more Destiny Tokens And they reducing the difficulty and time needing to complete the manual.
