There won't be a Nintendo Direct broadcast this week, a known Brazilian Journalist has claimed.
Despite rumors claiming otherwise, Nintendo won't be airing a new Direct episode later this week. Luckily for Nintendo fans, however, there will be a new Nintendo Direct later this month.
At least, that's what known Brazilian journalist @phluttilippe has said on X earlier today. Although the journalist has claimed that the Direct will take place by the end of the month, the exact date for the broadcast isn't certain at this point. "There is no Nintendo Direct this week", the journalist wrote on X (Google translated). "End of the month, and as far as I know, the exact date isn't even certain yet."
Last month, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed that there will be a Direct broadcast this month. During this event, Nintendo won't be talking about the Switch 2. "We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation", Furukawa said last month.
While this isn't a confirmation that there indeed won't be a Direct this week, the journalist has correctly revealed Nintendo-related details before official announcements in the past. Also, @phluttilippe was among the first to say that the Switch successor is slated for a release in March 2025, instead of this year. Of course, Nintendo has yet to officially unveil the Switch successor, but Nintendo President Furukawa recently confirmed that the Switch 2 will be announced before April 2025 (before the end of Nintendo's current fiscal year, which runs through March 2025).
We'll update you as soon as we learn more about Nintendo's plans for this month. Stay tuned.
