Ubisoft is gearing up to drop another XDefiant update later today following the online shooter’s launch later last month.
XDefiant update Y1S0.2 (which will appear on PS5 as 1.000.009) makes a number of changes to Ubisoft’s new free-to-play title, including improvements to how Crossplay and party invites work.
For those who missed the memo, XDefiant is a high octane, arena-based shooter that is shaping up to be one of Call of Duty‘s biggest rivals in 2024. What does it bring to the table, you ask? The developers at Ubisoft San Francisco have woven together smooth COD-like gunplay with a splash of Overwatch (light hero-like powers, and a focus on team-based objectives). On top of that, the game features Factions inspired by characters from Ubi franchises such as Splinter Cell and Far Cry.
Y1S0.2 is sure to be one of many patches as XDefiant continues to undergo refinement. In future updates, we can expect new content including bonus Factions, maps, events, and (hopefully) even more game modes.
Here are latest changes coming to XDefiant.
Having recently got some hands-on time with the game, here’s what we had to say:
“Exactly how much stopping power XDefiant gains will depend largely on its future roadmap. Thankfully, Ubisoft is no stranger when it comes to running a successful live service, with Rainbow Six Siege making a dramatic turnaround in its first year to become one of the biggest FPS games of all time. XDefiant fans are seemingly in good hands, then, and Ubisoft will need to keep its momentum if it wants to ward off 2024’s upcoming class of shooters from this year’s Black Ops 6 to Marvel Rivals and Sony’s Concord.”
