It won't be long before players can start exploring the new island since the release date for Sakurajima is set for June 27, 2024. Xbox players, in particular, might be looking forward to this release date since part of the update includes dedicated Xbox servers, and having dedicated servers tends to make the gaming experience much smoother. However, even solo players will find plenty to do once the update rolls out.
From the trailer alone, there's not an exact number given for how many new Pals are being added in the Sakurajima update.
