The epic tragedy that kickstarted the Superman legacy is happening again. A preview for Superman: Space Age #1 shows Clark experiencing the death of another home world but with an even more grim outcome.
There isn't a comic fan alive that doesn't know the origin of the Man of Steel. The planet of Krypton faced an impending destruction and its only survivor was a baby rocketed to Earth where he gained amazing new powers. Superman's origin is one of the most, if not the most, well known superhero story off all time. In fact, it's so crucial, the origin of Superman is constantly revisited with new storylines attempting to find their own unique addition to his classic beginning.

But it looks like Superman is about to experience the loss of a planet once more, only this time the outcome may be more dire than his origin story was. A preview for Superman: Space Age #1 by Mark Russell and Mike Allred shows a Superman in 1985 orbiting the Earth and observing what appears to be a crisis scenario. Meteorites are belting the planet's surface, causing fiery explosions as far as Superman’s Fortress of Solitude in the arctic. As the disaster worsens, Clark has prepared himself for the inevitable, bidding goodbye to the citizens of Kandor and diverting his hideout's remaining energy to power his family's living quarters. Superman joins his wife and son, solemnly letting them know that this is, in fact, the end. And much like how the Kryptonians were powerless to save their world, Superman cannot save Earth and waits by his family's side for the end to come.
